Our flight to KAPF was short in just under an hour from door to door, we were welcomed into the Naples FBO by the friendly staff and got the keys to the courtesy car right away. Confirming their sign that says they are "The Best Little Airport in the Country". In no time at all we were at the Naples Botanical Gardens as it was only 4 miles away.
Once at the gardens we were delighted by the beautiful gardens and 27 Lego sculptures in 14 different displays placed within the gardens. We made a scavenger hunt of finding all the sculptures, and we were not afraid to ask for help when we needed it. And as always when going for help with Lego's you go to the children. A small boy, probably about 4 years old helped us to find our last display as we were all stumped and could not find it. It was the duck family, nestled beside the pond.
We lunched right inside the gardens at the Fogg Cafe, noting their herb and citrus garden right off the kitchen, I am sure they must just go outside and pick what they need for cooking. The non pilots in the group were even able to enjoy beer or wine with lunch.
After our visit we gassed up and returned the courtesy car, got back into the plane and after a quick preflight and run up we were on our way back to F45, returning just in time to see the sunset over the airport.
Below are many pictures from our day! I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as we enjoyed taking them. and if you decide to visit the gardens yourself the Lego exhibit is there till April 10. Information to be found at www.naplesgarden.org.
